Children's Museum

One of our favorite things to do on a rainy day is to go to the Children's Museum in Oak Ridge. Here are a few pictures from our last visit. I think it was in early April. There are not many pictures because I forgot to charge my camera..I have not even attempted to edit these..and they were not taken with my nicest camera..so they are just snap shots

Its been a long time..

I will try to catch up on posts over the next week or so. I have several pictures I can share.

One thing we have begun to do is using coupons and watching sales. It is a great way to save money. I plan on sharing some of the better adventures we have with using coupons and other ways of saving money.

Savannah and I were particularly proud of the shopping we did today. We went to Old Navy and came back with ten pair of flip flops and two shirts for me (Dana) for $1.10 total. There were 2 pair of flip flops for Savannah, 1 pair for John and seven pair for me. Ian will not wear flip flops so he did not get a pair. They did not have any that would fit Caroline anytime soon. I would have gotten Savannah more, instead of some of the ones for me, but they were out of girly ones in her size.

If you are wondering how we did this, keep reading and I will tell you. The flip flops were on sale for $1 each. They are normally either 1/$3.50 or 2/$5. The shirts were normally priced $12.50 and $14.50, but were on sale for $8 and $7. There was a limit of 5 pair of flip flops per customer. I had Savannah "pay" for the first 5 pair. I had a coupon Old Navy had sent me that was for $5 off of any purchase. This made the 5 pair of flip flops ring up for free! I then had the cashier ring up the remaining five pair of flip flops and the two shirts. The total came to $21.08. However, I had a rewards card worth $20. (I have an Old Navy card, whenever you use it you earn points toward rewards cards and this was my latest reward). This dropped the total to $1.08! Below are pictures of the loot that we got at Old Navy today..

Here is the whole loot together

November 2009

There was not a lot going on in November. We did go to Memphis for Thanksgiving though. Here are some pictures of our time there. The people in the pictures are us, John's parents and John's brother and his family. The kids love looking at our blog and I asked if they would like to see pictures of themselves...I was told they would..so Enjoy kids! (Again these were taken with a small camera. I had forgotten my good camera. They are kind of blurry, but they are what I have. I have not edited them at all)

Halloween 2009

It has been awhile since I posted. I have been neglecting my blog. I am going to post a few things to catch up now. I will try and keep them under different headings so that they are at least somewhat organized.

Here are some pictures of Caroline on Tennessee Day back when I was still working some and she was in daycare. We have a little monkey outfit that happens to be wearing an orange and white shirt - TN Vol colors!!! We found it in Nebraska of all places!

Here are some of the trick or treating photos. Savannah was Snow White. Ian was Peter Pan and Caroline was Tinkerbell. I wanted Savannah to be Wendy, but I could not find a reasonably priced Wendy costume. It had been raining all day, we got out for just a minute while it stopped. There was a rainbow in the sky! There are not many pictures, it started raining again pretty quickly so we went back inside. (These were taken with a small camera, in bad light, in the rain, and have not been edited, so don't expect great pictures)

I made iced muffins for Savannah's school party. Here is a picture of them. I have pictures of the party..but since I have not asked people if it is OK, I am not going to post pictures with other people's kids in them. This blog is unsearchable, but still..I don't want to do it without asking. The theme was owls.

Thank goodness for washable markers

The kids were downstairs coloring and being quite, so I was getting some stuff done and so was John.

We came downstairs and Savannah tried at first to say that Ian had colored himself with the markers (Considering his back is covered, we doubted that SERIOUSLY). When we pointed that out to her..she said "Okay it was teamwork.." Hmmm..not exactly what we meant when we said they should use teamwork more often..but OK. Anyway..enjoy the pictures!

yeah, I don't think he is flexible enough to do this by himself

he was rather pleased with himself though..

There was another sign besides the fact that his back was covered. There was also some marker on Savannah's nose where she had wiped it (I do not think she realized this either). The third sign was the Savannah sized handprint on the wall. It is next to her in the picture. It came off the wall easily - like I said..thank goodness for washable markers!

Savannah's Ladybug face

Last week we went to Chick-fil-a and they had clowns painting the kids' faces. Savannah chose ladybugs for her face.
